Eero Saarinen’s Tulip coffee table is one of the best-known examples of Finnish design. Featuring a single leg and a round laminate top, with a shape reminiscent of a flower (hence the name “tulip”), the Tulip table is not just a table, but a true masterpiece of design.
Saarinen designed the Tulip table in 1957 for the U.S. furniture maker Knoll. The table is part of Saarinen’s Pedestal collection of one-legged furniture as a form of protest against the “ugly, confusing and turbulent” world created by the legs of traditional furniture. This iconic collection is a perfect example of mid-century modernism, a style that, even today, exudes a sense of novelty and originality.
Eero Saarinen designed the Tulip collection consisting of tables and chairs from the late 1940s through the 1950s, one of Knoll’s most recognizable collections. Tulip tables and chairs were made from modern and elegant materials, helping to establish Knoll’s identity. The Tulip Knoll collection is a distinctive realization of modern design and a timeless value-add for your home.
Note: The Knoll logo is placed under each base. A nameplate with the Knoll Studio logo and the designer’s signature is located under each floor or undercounter. Not suitable for outdoor use.
