Armchair made entirely of FSC-certified solid American walnut wood designed by DRAW Studio in 2017. While at first glance the armchair could be considered an homage to classic Scandinavian design, the construction techniques testify to the company’s solid tradition in woodworking. Indeed, Swallow embodies its expertise in combining technology with traditional craftsmanship. The name takes its cue from the silhouette: like the tail of a swallow, the rear structure of the backrest, opening up, forms the supporting legs. It is a solution that gives stability while generating a unique and iconic form. The passion for European design archetypes at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s is revealed in the generosity of the curves of the seat and backrest. The latter, with an ovoid shape, is made of upholstered curved poplar plywood and can be covered in fabric, leather or natural leather. The seat, also made of upholstered curved plywood, rests on the frame via four turned brass pivots. The backrest is attached to the wooden frame by screws, concealed by two brass “discs” attached by magnet.
